Should we give up our freedom in the name of a talk about a virus?
The measure making the mask compulsory seems to me an infringement of respect for private life, that is to say the protection of my well-being (art. 12 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948, art. 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Man and Article 17 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights).
The mask is an instrument used in the health environment. It has become a commercial product that has been the subject of overproduction in a context of political panic and over-media coverage of a viral problem whose serious consequences only concern a part of the population (the median age at death of Covid-19 cases in France is 84 years). Santé Publique France has indicated that 3 deaths have occurred in children under the age of 18. 2 had underlying comorbidities; the 3rd child presented a complex clinical picture with multiple bacterial secondary infections.
Wearing a mask seems to me to be an attack on the freedom to enjoy life, violating everyone’s privacy, through the use of fear when we know that the risks are minor.
The vocabulary used by the government should not be taken as constituting the truth. The contradictions in the declarations cannot constitute arguments now justifying a pseudo-sanitary measure coupled with a penal sanction (fine of 135 € and more if indisposed police which could add rebellion) …
It should be noted that this is not a measure inspired by a health issue, since the decree provides that for example for shows “the organizer may decide to make it compulsory to wear a mask”. It is therefore arbitrary, at the goodwill of a person who has no more expertise in viral contamination than a field mouse does in computer science.
